Question Salat of a woman As salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh Is it permissible for a woman when she prays, to NOT move her lips at all or utter the prayer quietly but rather to pray silently within herself, neither whispering nor moving her lips? Jazakallahu Khayran
Answer 1) It is obligatory(Wajib) for a woman to recite Surah al-Hamd and the other Surah silently with whispering(ie. Moving lips is necessary for her) while offering Zuhr and Asr prayers. 2) A woman can recite Surah al-Hamd and other Surah in Fajr, Maghrib and Isha prayers loudly or silently with whispering . But, if a Na-Mehram hears her voice, she should, on the basis of precaution, recite them silently whit whispering, especially if allowing him to listen is unlawful(haraam). (Ref : Tauzeeh e ul masayl Ayat Ullaha Sistani (d.b.) Masla # 979 , 981) (Khuda aap ki tawfiqaat mein izafa farmaye)
